From a vision in 2000 to revolutionizing IV therapy across the Philippines

Our Story

Bodycast Corporation is the first and leading manufacturer of patented Intravenous (IV) Splints in the Philippines. Since its founding, Bodycast has been committed to solving a critical pain point in healthcare—offering medical professionals a safe, reliable, and ready-to-use alternative to improvised IV splints.

Founded in 2009, Bodycast was born out of the vision and ingenuity of Engr. Dominador Fabrigas who observed first-hand the struggles of frontline nurses and healthcare workers. In high-pressure settings, they would resort to makeshift solutions—using cardboard, plywood, or hardboard wrapped in gauze—to stabilize IV needles.

These temporary methods were not only time-consuming but also posed risks to patient safety and comfort.

Innovation Journey

Driven to improve this process, Engr. Fabrigas began developing ergonomic splint prototypes in 2000 using a range of materials including plaster of Paris, fiberglass, and finally, medical-grade polypropylene plastic. After years of field testing, design refinement, and user feedback, he finalized a solution and patented the Bodycast Intravenous Splint in 2007.

With a strong commitment to innovation, safety, and quality, Bodycast Corporation officially launched in 2009, introducing the country’s first mass-produced IV splint that was anatomically designed, ventilated, cushioned, and ready-to-use.

Recognition
In 2012, Engr. Fabrigas was awarded the “Outstanding Utility Model of the Year” by the Department of Science and Technology, Intellectual Property Office, and Rotary Club of Makati, in recognition of his pioneering work.
